Daughter of respected
naval architect and
marine engineer, Joseph
Koelbel, Patricia
Koelbel Gill grew up
on Long Island and in
Northern Virginia. She
co-founded the
Norwalk-based
architecture and design
firm, GILL & GILL
ARCHITECTS with husband,
Harrison Gill III, AIA
in 1990. The firm has
designed hundreds of
residential projects
across Connecticut, New
York and beyond. In 1997
the couple formed a
second design venture,
Gill, Ackermann and
Associates, specializing
in corporate interiors,
commercial buildings and
institutional design.
Ms. Gill received her
Bachelors Degree in
Architecture from the
University of Virginia
in 1981. Prior to
founding her own firm
she was senior associate
in the New York firm,
Andrew Shen and
Associates and later
worked closely with
noted New Canaan,
Connecticut Architect,
Mario Polizzotti.
Ms. Gill has designed
many new homes and noted
additions to historic
structures. One of her
residential designs was
recently cited by the
Westport Historic
District Commission as
an outstanding
architectural example in
the Old Kings Highway
Historic District. Ms.
Gill has designed new
houses and additions
throughout Connecticut
and elsewhere.
Ms. Gill is registered
to practice architecture
in New York and
Tennessee. She is also a
registered Interior
Designer in Connecticut.
She is a long-standing
member of the American
Institute of Architects,
AIA Connecticut and the
National Trust for
Historic Preservation.
Her distinguished
residential work has
gained wide-spread
praise in the
communities of Darien,
New Canaan, Westport and
Weston. Her projects
have been featured
prominently on recent
open-house tours in both
Darien and New Canaan.
GILL & GILL ARCHITECTS
has become noted in
recent years for the
design of fine Shingle
Style residences that
draw inspiration from
the traditional American
residences of
northeastern coastal
communities like
Newport, Watch Hill,
Greenwich, and East
Hampton.
Active in the Norwalk
Community, the Gills
have five children all
of whom have attended
the Norwalk Public
School System, where
both Mr. Gill and his
wife have been generous
volunteers of both time
and talent. Ms. Gill has
volunteered her time
with several programs in
the Norwalk Public
Schools. She served as
superintendent of the
Sunday School Program at
the First Congregational
Church of Norwalk.
Coming from a long line
of avid boaters, Ms.
Gill is a member of
Cedar Point Yacht Club
in Westport,
Connecticut, long
recognized as one of the
finest sailboat racing
clubs on the East Coast.
With a current staff of
eight, GILL & GILL
ARCHITECTS has had
offices on Wall Street
in the traditional heart
of Norwalk, Connecticut
since 1993. Ms. Gill has
a passionate interest
the design of
distinctive residences
and personally oversees
every project the firm
designs.
